They said that not a lot of taxis come down the street that the hotel is on. When enquiring about a taxi back to the airport on our last day, the bellman suggested that we book the hotel limo because it would be hard to get a taxi. I do have to note something that annoyed me a little. (I believe a can of Coke was $5.) Overall, the hotel provided us with everything that we needed. I can't remember how much it was for but I think it was $15/room. I signed up to be a Kimpton member and therefore got free wi-fi in the room as well as a voucher for the mini-bar. After a late night out, it was nice to just walk downstairs and get some coffee in the lobby, which was again complimentary. We also had a couple of very nice pre-theatre dinners on Restaurant Row (Basilica and Cara Mia) which were walking distance from the hotel. It was great to be in walking distance to all the theatres. For me, the best part of N.Y.C is the theatre so we took the family to several musicals during our trip. It was nice to be close to all the places she wanted to visit in Times Square like the M &M store and the Toys R Us ferris wheel. Her mouth just dropped when she saw all the lights and the people. My otherwise very chatty child was speechless when our taxi driver first drove through Times Square to the hotel. Times Square is something that I can only handle in small doses so I really appreciated that I could escape back into the comfort of my room so quickly. Even though the hotel is steps away from Times Square, it was quiet and felt much more removed. After a long day of sightseeing and shopping, it was nice to take up a glass of wine to the room and relax before heading out into the city again. We loved the little thoughtful things the hotel provided such as the complimentary wine, sangria and lemonade in the early evening. I thought the beds were very comfortable and although the decor of the room wasn't exactly my taste, I appreciated the clean lines and contemporary look. We booked two rooms, one for my child and mother and another for my husband and I, and they were adjoined by a small common hallway space. We stayed at the W at Times Square on our last trip and felt that the rooms at The Muse were much bigger. (Sheraton, Hyatt etc) and it just isn't as relaxing. We've stayed in so many large hotels in N.Y.C. Boutique hotels are so much more stylish and personal than big chains. It was my first time using a Kimpton hotel and I will definitely look into staying at one on another holiday. over the summer holidays (Sorry it has taken me so long to write a review) and The Muse did not disappoint.
